Haas & Associates, P.A. is a law firm dedicated to serving North Carolina families with the problems and issues families often face. We support and advise individuals in legal matters ranging from separation and divorce to adoption to estate planning. Our goal is to create connected, long-lasting relationships with our clients so they feel knowledgeable and secure when issues arise.
Our firm has both the knowledge and experience to address both traditional and non-traditional family law issues, including prenuptial agreements, separation agreements, child custody and support issues, alimony, property division (equitable distribution), divorce, domestic violence, adoption, surrogacy, and estate planning. We use a variety of methods to achieve a fair and equitable result, including mediation, arbitration, collaborative law, and litigation. It is our goal to achieve our client's objectives by the most efficient and timely means possible. Regardless of the outcome of the case, parties will often remain in each other's lives as co-parents to their children and we are committed to minimizing the negative impact that legal proceedings may have on the family relationships.
In the area of wills and estate planning, we assist clients in ensuring that the products of their labor are properly distributed to their loved ones. Over 70% of Americans do not have a Last Will and Testament. This makes it possible for the government to receive a significant share of their property upon death, and for family members to be deprived of their relative's intended gifts. Far fewer Americans have Living Wills or Health Care Powers of Attorney. These documents allow people to direct their loves ones in how they wish to be cared for in the event of disability or incapicitation. While many people do not need a comprehensive estate plan, these basic documents can go a long way to protect loved ones when the unthinkable happens.
The attorneys of our firm share a common vision and commitment to our clients and our community. Our attorneys hold the common belief that, as attorneys, it is both our honor and our privilege to serve others. The partners of our firm are highly trained in leadership development and share a strong belief that it is our responsibility to work with clients and opposing counsels to create the best possible resolution to any conflict, especially where children are involved. We demand the highest levels of integrity and responsibility from our attorneys and staff, and seek to redefine the standards of honor and professionalism in the legal community.
