JOHN P. MCNEIL
John McNeil is a partner with Haas, McNeil & Associates, P.A. and
an essential part of the firm's litigation team. Mr.
McNeil handles family law, appellate practice, traffic
and criminal litigation. In addition, Mr. McNeil will
represent clients in a variety of other civil
litigation matters.
John enjoyed the typical life of a military brat. His father was
a career Army officer and this gave John the
opportunity to live and travel throughout the United
States, Canada and Mexico. After high school, John and
his friends joined the
U.S.
Marine Corps and volunteered to be a Scout in the
2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion stationed
at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Mr. McNeil received
numerous service awards and medals, achieving the rank
of Sergeant and leading Marines in the Panama Invasion
and Desert Storm. He has traveled to five continents
and throughout the Mediterranean, traversed the Suez
Canal, and trekked through the Arctic Circle. Still a
dedicated veteran, John is active with the
Veterans
of Foreign Wars,
American Legion, and Rolling Thunder©.
He attended East
Carolina University and North Carolina State
University before finishing his undergraduate studies
at the
University of North Carolina-Wilmington with a
B.A. in Political Science. While in college, John
received numerous scholastic awards and worked on
State and National political campaigns, including
working as a campaign manager for a city council
candidate. At the
Wake Forest University School of Law, John kept
himself busy with the law and within the community. He
participated in clinical programs with the District
Attorney's Office and the County Attorney's Office. He
was a member of the Student Bar Association, was
Vice-Justice of Phi Alpha Delta, participated in Moot
Court, and was the Assistant-Editor of the WFU law
school newspaper.
Since finishing law school, John's career has included helping
clients through the financial and emotional impact of
their divorces, working as an associate in complex
civil litigation cases, and defending clients in
criminal and traffic matters. He regularly attends
Continuing Legal Education courses to focus his energy
towards serving his clients in a knowledgeable and
efficient manner. John is a member of the
North
Carolina Academy of Trial Attorneys, 10th
Judicial District Bar Association, and the
North
Carolina Bar Association.
John prefers to resolve life's issues and legal matters through
good decision-making and compromise rather than using
the court room. He is easy to get along with, easy to
work with, but when the situation calls for decisive
action he is not afraid to fight for what is right. He
has fought to protect America and now focuses his
experience and abilities to help the clients of Haas
McNeil & Associates, P.A. through their difficult
issues.
